Winter Refit Steps up a Gear
Trinity’s crew, supported by an army of volunteers, are making good progress on the winter refit work in Dartmouth.
The awning has gone up on Leader which means the team can make good use of the covered protection and work on through the imminent foul weather.
This weekend they have been blackening-down the wires used for the vessel’s rigging, while spending time servicing some of the blocks and getting a lot of rewarding varnishing work done.
Between January and February, both Leader and Provident will spend some time out of the water at C Toms and Sons’ boatyard in Polruan, Cornwall. This will provide a great opportunity for the crew to clean and paint the hulls and service the seacocks.
All three vessels should arrive back in Brixham in late February, or early March, before the final phase of refit gets underway, ensuring all the vessel’s equipment and sails are rigged and ready to go for the new season.
