Meet the Team 2019 — Toni
We are now just three days ahead of the 2019 sailing season getting underway. In the run up we are introducing you to the current team here at the Trinity Sailing Foundation. Today with met up with a member of our crew, Toni…
What is your role at Trinity Sailing?
I’m a relief Skipper, working on all three vessels.
What are looking forward to most about the upcoming season?
Meeting lots of new crew members and hopefully imparting some of my knowledge, built up over the years, to all concerned. It’s very good, each season, to see old familiar faces and new customers.
What’s your best piece of advice for someone who has never been sailing before?
You will find at times it might be scary, other times it will be amazingly beautiful, seeing sunsets and sunrises and – if lucky enough – dolphins and other wildlife. It can be a life-changing experience.
What’s your favourite Trinity vessel, and why?
All three are individual in their own right and each one has its own special charm. Golden Vanity, in particular, has done many sea-miles and is an amazing little sea-boat. Provident I have a special connection to, the family that had her built are still living and fishing out of Brixham today. Though the ultimate boat would have to be Leader, she’s very manoeuvrable and a joy to sail and – great in strong or light winds
When you’re not sailing, what else do you enjoy doing?
Bit of art, and obviously spending time on my own boat I.R.I.S. Sailing single-handed across the Bay of Biscay in the middle of winter, and other adventures.
