Young people on board Leader have been helping with an exciting training exercise to help the Royal Naval Air Service.
During the recent voyage with the Trinity Sailing Foundation, the 10th TS Canonteign Teign Valley Sea Cadet Unit 609 were asked to help with a practice air sea rescue mission.
The cadets, along with the Trinity crew, had to help the helicopter get a winchman down on the 1892 vessel, as she sailed off the coast near Charlestown. While on board there was a brief question and answer section with the young sailors and they also helped with an exercise to get a stretcher down to the boat and then back up again.
Group leader Nick Maylam said the young people on board Leader really enjoyed the experience.
He said: “Our thanks to the crews of 771 Squadron Royal Naval Air Service for their support in providing special experiences for the Sea Cadets of TS Canonteign.”
