In the final days running up to the 2018 season getting underway we will be introducing the current Trinity Sailing Foundation team. Today we caught up with another member our sea staff — Ida Schelhase Langenskov…
What is your role at Trinity Sailing?
I am going to be Bosun on board Provident
How long have your worked for Trinity?
I came down over the winter and started working here officially at the start of February.
What did you do prior to joining the team?
I graduated as ordinary ships assistant from Georg Stage last summer and I then worked on the schooner Maja and did some refit work in Denmark. Prior to all that I worked at The Viking Ship Museum, in Roskilde.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I love working aloft, doing rig repair. I also enjoy working on deck, pulling ropes and adjusting sails. I really like navigational work, working with charts and planning.
Where is your favourite sailing destination?
I had a pretty incredible sail from Bermuda to The Azores, I’m looking forward to exploring the West Country on Provident.
When you’re not sailing, what else do you enjoy doing?
I love going to concerts, or staying in and watching movies. I’m usually sailing though, if not for work then for fun.
