A volunteer weekend is being organised this weekend to help get Provident back to sea.
Recruits are needed to help her full-time crew with some essential maintenance work before the new sailing season gets underway.
Harry Gottschalk, Trinity Sailing’s Marketing & Sales Manager, said: “Provident has had her entire aft deck removed and replaced over the winter and spring and we are now entering the crucial final stages. We would like as many people as possible to come down this weekend and help with the fun jobs we always get to do at the end of the refit process. This includes some woodwork and getting the rigging sorted. You don’t have to have any special skills though as the main job will be cleaning her hull and grabbing a paintbrush to ensure she looks as good as possible when she heads back to sea.
“If you’re local to us, in Brixham, it would be great if you could pop down and lend a hand for a few hours. However if you live further afield we can provide you with food, drink, and accommodation between this Friday (26th) evening and Sunday afternoon. We will make sure the crew look after you and I am led to believe by the vessels’ cook that there may be a fairly sociable night out on the Saturday evening — though I couldn’t possibly comment.”
